BRAVO — New York Phase I
Participant Privacy and Data Use Statement
BRAVO (Baseline Review of Alleged Vehicle-speed Observations) is an exploratory research study examining motorists' experiences with alleged speeding violations and traffic-enforcement procedures in New York State.
INFORMATION COLLECTED
The questionnaire requests information about traffic stops, alleged speeds, speed-measurement methods, roadway conditions, officer observations, enforcement procedures, and outcomes.
The study does not request participants' names, home addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, driver's license numbers, or vehicle license plate numbers.
PRIVACY PROTECTIONS
Survey responses are configured to be anonymized. The survey is not configured to save participants' IP addresses, referring website addresses, or response-completion timings.
However, complete anonymity cannot be guaranteed, particularly if a participant voluntarily enters identifying information in an open-text field.
USE OF INFORMATION
Responses may be analyzed individually and in aggregate to identify patterns, develop research findings, and support reports, datasets, presentations, or future publications.
Publicly shared findings will not intentionally identify individual participants. Free-text responses will be reviewed for identifying information before any public disclosure.
VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION
Participation is voluntary. Participants may choose not to participate or may stop before submitting their responses.
Because responses are anonymized, identifying and withdrawing a particular submission after it has been submitted may not be possible.
IMPORTANT PRIVACY REMINDER
Please do not include names, addresses, license plate numbers, case numbers, or other identifying information in your written responses.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
By continuing, you acknowledge that you have read this privacy and data-use statement. A separate consent question will ask whether you voluntarily agree to participate in the study.
